The First Day

My first day at Bank of America was great. I learned a lot and there is still a lot to be learned. I have 3 different sets of reading material, a DVD, plus computer based training.

So far, the people are friendly. I feel a little overdressed, but hey…I’m aiming to be different. I heard that these ladies could be quite nasty, but I’m not, in the least, concerned about that. I’m not there to make friends…I’m there to do my job.

On to other news…I want your thoughts and opinions on the following scenario:

There’s a 13 year old girl who lives with her father. This girl dates her best friend’s brother, and her father knows this. He takes his daughter over there to see him whenever she wants to go. When the idea of her [possibly] becoming pregnant was brought up, he replied: “If she got pregnant, I’d pay for an abortion.”

Personally, I think he needs to be slapped. Slapped hard. How could you not be concerned about the health and well-being of your 13 year old daughter? In order for her to get pregnant, it means that she would have to have unprotected sex. Do you not care about STDs and the such? Do you really not care about the emotional damage that comes from getting an abortion? Not to mention the possibility that she may never be able to have children… People need to get serious.

That is all.

I’m glad that your first day @ work went well. Although it’s a bit surprising that Bank of America would be doing hiring…especially at this time. :???:

As for the thirteen year old…it makes me curious to learn where the mother is in the situation. The father is obviously not equipped to deal with the emotional and physical needs of a developing teenager…I agree he needs to be slapped.

@Jessica, I actually got hired before all of this economy stuff happened. I didn’t start until Monday though.

The mother…she lives with her boyfriend and other 5 kids…

Some parents are irresponsible. In this case, he’s just an idiot. He hasn’t even properly taught his daughter the practices of safe sex & etc. What a moron.

For her father to be alright with the idea of his 13-year old daughter having sex and for him to take her over his house I’m assuming without adult supervision is disturbing. Forget a pregnancy, what about STD or AIDS from unprotected sex and not being careful. I hope your new job works out, beware of females at work, they can be a mess and always stay more than a few steps ahead of yourself.

I’m glad that you had a good first day at work!

I must say that is a very difficult topic. On the one hand, if he prevents her from seeing her boyfriend, she’ll probably do it anyway. I don’t think he should encourage abortion because he’s basically letting her know it’s alright to have unprotected sex. He should at least speak with his daughter and contraception and condoms. No one is really able to control what their teens do. They can give tons of lectures about abstinence and such but more than likely the adolescent will do it anyway. I believe the best way for any parent to go about things is to have talks with their children about using protection, the different types of STD’s there are and the consequences behind not being responsible during these acts.

COngrats on the new gig… in relation to that story… he isn’t taking responsibility for his child… and he is raising her to take responsibility for her actions…

If he is doing it on his own, I know he has a female friend, aunt, mother or something that he can go to for advice on how to raise a daughter because obviously he is clueless.
